Join us for our first Contra Dance of 2024! We’re hosting a dance especially for beginners contra dancers, with calling from Carl Levine, so this is your chance to try it out and swing into your new years resolution! This dance is free for all members of Brooklyn Contra (at any level) and to all members of CDNY!

We’ll have live music by Squirrel’s Chair. Hailing from Central Jersey, Squirrel’s Chair is not your normal contra band! Featuring the playing of Nathalie Levine (fiddle), Nathan Bishop (5-string fiddle), and Judy Minot (piano), the trio specializes in bringing a new perspective to old tunes (and a few new tunes to boot!) You’ll want to jump out of your seat and go nuts — we promise!

THIS DANCE IS FREE FOR ALL BROOKLYN CONTRA AND CDNY MEMBERS AT ANY MEMBERSHIP LEVEL

  • You have any symptoms that may be related to covid-19 or other viruses

  • You have come in contact with anyone in the 2 weeks prior to the dance who is suspected to have covid-19

• Cost of entry

  • Free for members and volunteers, $9 for students, $15 for non-members

  • Please try to bring cash, as it's faster and easier for us to collect at entry!
