Live Sound for (just f-ing) Folk Music

  • Camp Friendship 339 8th Street Brooklyn, NY, 11215 United States (map)

Want to wield a sound board with ease? Looking to build some skills to produce a simple folk music event? It's easy as f***.

Taught by our sound team Andrea and Jesse, our beginner-level Brooklyn Contra sound workshop will demystify the equipment, setup, and instrument balancing for a typical small event.

With a focus on making learning sound fun and engaging, you'll walk out confidently able to read a sound plot, set up a signal flow, and use the basic features of a digital mixing board. No special training or background is required - we'll show you it's easy as f*** to do sound.

Following the workshop, participants are encouraged to stay for the contra dance after, and we'll set you up with 1-1 shadowing with our sound volunteers to lead into more advanced training.

This workshop is free to folks planning to help Brooklyn Contra on sound, and a recommended $20 donation for folks from the larger community who want to dip their toes in live sound engineering.
