Join Brooklyn Contra for an afternoon of contra dancing on April 7th, starting with a free contra lesson at 4:30. Sunny Lawrence returns with her fan-favorite calling, and local musicians Anna Bosnick (Fiddle) and Colin Harte (Piano) are excited to make their Brooklyn Contra duo debut!
Anna Bosnick is a fiddler and music teacher in the New York City area playing for dances and other events. She plays Irish, Québécois, New England, and Scottish music among other styles. As a composer and arranger she creates music for podcasts, plays, and short films. Besides writing her own music, she is gigging and seissioning around the NYC and Northern Hudson river area, teaching ukulele and fiddle, co-running the first ever Quebecois jam in the NYC session scene, and working on her new album of original songs and tunes titled "Superpowers". Anna has worked with many artists including Tony Trishka, Jeff Jacobs, Worthy Fools (founding member), currently she plays in the bands Rhythmic Heart, French Toast, and Dork Factor.
Sunny Lawrence has been dancing in her hometown of Brooklyn since 2011 and started calling in 2023 through Brooklyn Contra’s caller training program. She brings a clear, calm, and joyful presence to the mic, always aiming to help newcomers fall in love with contra and to keep growing her beloved dance communities.
