Join Brooklyn Contra for an afternoon of contra dancing on April 6th, starting with a free contra lesson at 4:30. We’ll have some of the best music around from Midnight on the Water and calling from Sunny Lawrence.
"We'd never really met other string players who are equally at home across all musical contexts - until we met one another! What would happen, we thought, if the three of us got together to play ALL the music in a single ensemble? After about a year of musical exploration and rehearsal, we're pretty excited about the results." -Here's a little snippet of something form our website.
Energetic and electric music like you've never heard before from a string trio.
Thousands of dances played between 3 uniquely versatile musicians create for an unforgettable contra dance experience
Sunny Lawrence has been dancing in her hometown of Brooklyn since 2011 and started calling in 2023 through Brooklyn Contra’s caller training program. She brings a clear, calm, and joyful presence to the mic, always aiming to help newcomers fall in love with contra and to keep growing her beloved dance communities.
