A Contra Dance for All

  • Camp Friendship 339 8th Street Brooklyn, NY, 11215 United States (map)

Join us on a lovely spring evening for a swing to live Irish tunes from Some Assembly Required and the NYC debut of caller Annie Kidwell.

The Some Assembly Required Trio brings the energy of NYC's best musicians to the Brooklyn Contra stage. Headlined by Matthew Christian's Irish fiddling, you never know who'll show up, from folks fresh of the Broadway or Grand Ol Opry stage to a harmonious cello or a trombone playing mandolin picker.

This week Matthew Christian's signature busker's fiddle sound is joined by Autumn Rhodes’s nationally renowned Irish flute, Matt Diaz’s traveler's guitar and Brooklyn Contra debut from Alex Richey on fiddle melodies. Together, they'll bring joyus, dynamic, interpretations of traditional Appalachian and Irish tunes to help you whirl away the night.

Annie Kidwell is a caller based sometimes in MA, who is known for their clear prompting and easy stage presence. They facilitate joyful dances in New England and beyond, wherever they travel.
