Brooklyn Contra is Ensuring that Contra is an Unlimited Tradition!

Over the last five years, Brooklyn Contra has grown tremendously. In that time, we have:

  • Created our very own 501(c)(3), Traditions Unlimited

  • Partnered with CDNY and Village Contra for joint community events

  • Doubled the number of dances we host

  • Brought dances to new theaters, museums, parks, schools, and even graveyards

  • Hosted our New Years, family and advanced dances

  • Hosted our first workshops for callers and musicians

  • Pioneered a more inclusive contra dance community

It has been a busy time for us, and we’ve proven that contra can truly be a tradition with unlimited potential. To celebrate these milestones, we are asking for your support to power us forward into our next five years.

We also launched the Brooklyn Contra Membership Program to build a sustainable organization that keeps our tradition growing.

By becoming a member or making a donation, you’ll strengthen the contra dance community in New York City, and you'll help us expand our programming to reach new dancers, musicians, callers and audiences throughout the five boroughs.

  • A special voice in our organization's strategic planning
