Join us for our first Contra Dance of 2024! We’re hosting a dance especially for beginners contra dancers, with calling from Alexandra Deis-Lauby, so this is your chance to try it out and swing into your new years resolution! This dance is free for all members of Brooklyn Contra (at any level) and to all members of CDNY!

Cecilia Vacanti (of Kingfisher) and Jess Newman and Mark Price (of Cojiro) are teaming up to play contra dances in a high energy, dynamic trio known as The Star Charters. With Cecilia and Jess on fiddle and Mark holding down rhythm on guitar, The Star Charters bring to the stage a rock-solid groove and level of technical prowess that is complimented by their combined versatility, lyrical twin fiddle harmonies and joyful, off-the-cuff improvisation. This bopping team-up will send dancers over the moon!

THIS DANCE IS FREE FOR ALL BROOKLYN CONTRA AND CDNY MEMBERS AT ANY MEMBERSHIP LEVEL

  • You have come in contact with anyone in the 2 weeks prior to the dance who is suspected to have covid-19

• Cost of entry

  • Free for members and volunteers, $9 for students, $15 for non-members

  • Please try to bring cash, as it's faster and easier for us to collect at entry!
