A Contra Dance for All

  • Camp Friendship 339 8th Street Brooklyn, NY, 11215 United States (map)

Join us for the last dance of the summer (in our hall with fans and AC)! We’re welcoming Flamingo Sketches to town for some summertime themed tunes with one of America’s great contra callers, Maia McCormick!

Flamingo Sketches brings two musicians and six instruments to the stage for rollicking contra tunes influence by Gypsy Jazz, Swing, Old Time, and Celtic traditions. The duo joins Tom Krumm’s original tunes, soaring fiddle, and mountain mandolin with Jared Kirkpatricks driving piano and foot percussion for music that will swirl you around the dance floor.

They’ll be joined by Maia McCormick’s compelling and idiomatic original dances and concise teaching for an evening of dancing to make your weekend complete.

This dance requires masks and vaccinations for COVID-19.
