A Contra Dance for All

  • Camp Friendship 339 8th Street Brooklyn, NY, 11215 United States (map)

Join us for Cojiro’s NYC Debut with Calling from Paul Morris!

Friends! Join us for final dance of spring with the NYC debut of this very fine Western Massachusetts trio, with calling from local favorite Paul Morris!

Cojiro is Jess Newman and Mark Price, a duo of folk musicians creating modern folk music with a special focus on contra dance: Stompy, exciting, fun and funky.

Jess and Mark have been playing music together for over 10 years, but lived across the country from one another for most of that time. Mark (guitar, cello and mandolin,) has played music most of their life in many genres, including jazz and funk, both of which heavily influence Cojiro. Jess (fiddle) has played in several contra dance bands around the California bay area, including Pepperjack and Back Pocket. Recently, Cojiro has been occasionally joined by Benjamin Graubart on driving fiddle and mandolin!
