A Contra Dance for All

  • Camp Friendship 339 8th Street Brooklyn, NY, 11215 United States (map)

Friends! Join us for a dance with some of NYC’s finest contra players! We’ll have live Scottish infected tunes from Torrent and calling from our very own Sunny Lawerence!

A staple of the New England Scottish and contra scenes, Torrent features is Nadia Gaya (accordion), Sarah Stefanski (fiddle) and Ross Parker (piano). Their driving rhythms and exciting tunes will get you on your feet and dancing!

Sunny has been dancing in her hometown of Brooklyn since 2011 and started calling in 2023 through Brooklyn Contra’s caller training program. She brings a clear, calm, and joyful presence to the mic, always aiming to help newcomers fall in love with contra and to keep growing her beloved dance communities.
